The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) was formed in 1975 as an umbrella not-for-profit organization for The JUNO Awards – Canada’s Music Awards, MusiCounts, Canada’s music education program associated with CARAS and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Through transparency, trust and integrity, CIMA will be an advocacy leader, representing the national-interests of the Canadian owned independent music industry, while providing targeted services for the economic benefit of its membership.

We’ve recently launched new international partnerships to collect digital mechanical royalties from the US and from numerous territories outside of North America too.

The MIDI Manufacturers Association was official established as a California nonprofit, 501(c)6 trade organization) in 1985 with the goal to expand, promote, and protect MIDI technology for the benefit of artists and musicians around the world. Includes tutorials and resources for MIDI.

The BBC Sound Effects Archive is available for personal, educational or research purposes. There are over 33,000 clips from across the world from the past 100 years. These include clips made by the BBC Radiophonic workshop, recordings from the Blitz in London, special effects made for BBC TV and Radio productions, as well as 15,000 recordings from the Natural History Unit archive. Tape Op is about learning how to make great recordings with whatever tools you have access to. We interview engineers, producers and musicians who are making great recordings. Unlike most recording magazines, our primary focus is not on reviewing equipment. We want to discuss making art.
