Student Library Assistants’ responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
providing excellent customer service to students, faculty and staff
checking in and checking out library materials
assisting library users in finding online and physical library resources
sorting and shelving returned items according to Library of Congress classification
ensuring items on shelves are in proper order
keeping the library space clean
assisting with the processing of new library materials
opening and/or closing the library
potentially working evenings and/or Saturday
performing other duties and projects as assigned
Compensation
Student Library Assistants are paid minimum wage
Qualifications
Eligible candidates must have:
maintain a GPA of 3.0 as a student at LaSalle College Vancouver
at least 3 terms of study remaining in program
strong organizational and communication skills
keen attention to detail
ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
ability to work independently with minimal supervision
2 references (employer, volunteer coordinator or instructor)
Customer service and/or retail experience is an asset. Eligible international candidates require a visa permitting work in Canada and a valid SIN number.
