Despite increases in global labor productivity and decreases in unemployment, multiple crises are threatening the global economy, leading to slower GDP per capita growth and a rise in informal employment. More efforts are needed to create job opportunities, especially for young people, reduce informal employment and labor market inequality, promote safe working environments, and improve access to financial services. The global unemployment rate dropped to 5.4% in 2022, lower than the pre-pandemic level, as economies recovered from COVID-19.
