UN SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals

Goal 17 of the 2030 Agenda seeks to strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development by fostering collaboration across governments, the private sector, and civil society. However, many developing countries are burdened by soaring external debt exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic challenges like inflation and rising interest rates, underscoring the urgent need for debt relief and financial support. Despite increased official development assistance (ODA), much is directed at domestic issues in donor countries, such as refugee support and aid to Ukraine, rather than development. For the Sustainable Development Goals to be realized, it is critical that developed nations fulfill their ODA commitments and mobilize additional resources.
